Monica Mancini

Following her chart-topping (Billboard Traditional Jazz), eponymous debut-which spotlighted the compositions of her father Henry Mancini-vocalist MONICA MANCINI returns at last with her eagerly-anticipated follow-up recording!

For her Concord Records debut, Monica applies her distinctive vocal stylings to a dream-themed collection of songs from the pen of another in the elite ranks of the greatest of great American songwriters-Johnny Mercer. Monica's fresh, eclectic approach and insightful interpretations of the songs penned by the man around whom she grew up (Henry Mancini and Mercer were not only successful collaborators, they were also dear friends) reconfirms the timelessness of Johnny Mercer's songs. Also featured are six sets of Mercer song lyrics which Ginger Mercer (Johnny Mercer's widow) discovered and gave to songwriter Barry Manilow. Manilow gladly composed the music to complete these Mercer gems and hand-delivered them to Monica who-with a voice that is "the glamorous vocal equivalent to diamonds flashing" (New York Times)-makes them instant standards!

"This music has been waiting for a singer like Monica."
— Barry Manilow
